![]() indian sunset This is a Body Painting I did in on two women with sponge and brush. If you are ever going to do a "Mural" so to speak on more than one person, it is good to plan it out so that everything is in balance. If you will notice, I placed the larger woman on the left with the Indian on the horse on the right. Due to the size of the woman on the left, I chose to stagger them The woman on the left had most of her face showing and made the left side heavier than the right. The Indian balanced that out. The large mesa on the left played a part in this also as it was a large part of the painting, but not as strong as the Indian.
The depth was created by contrast of the sky and the purple hills meeting. When painting a sunset or sunrise, remember for the best depth, the sky and clouds must gradually get darker as they near the top of the painting. The dark silhouette on the bottom also plays a big part in this, It is almost like a light at the end of the tunnel. It is the same as in face painting monsters and making 3 dimensional cheeks, eyebrows, etc, except it is reversed. The shadows are in the front and the highlights are in the back. Figure that one out!!Remember....when you paint a sunset or sunrise, always put your light colors on first. This is because on such a large area, the dark colors will absorb the light colors and you may wind up applying 2 or more coats causing the make-up to crack. The earrings made an impression in this giving it a little more Southwest pop. I also had their rear ends Photo shopped which made a big difference in the photo. When painting a mural on more than one person, always position them, draw out the picture, photograph them and paint them one at a time. You can have them pose frequently to make sure everything is matching. ![]() Mark I am deeply in love with what I do. When I paint, nothing else exists......absolutely nothing. |
